Designed From the Inside Out
Most railing decisions happen at the end of a project. A designer got here first.
Before measurements were taken or materials were ordered, the Excell picket system was already written into the plan, chosen to live alongside wide-plank hardwood floors, warm wood stair treads, white walls and risers, and a chandelier that turns the stairwell into a moment.
Functional was never the goal. Belonging was.
One System, Two Applications
Island Deck and Rail ran the Excell powder-coated aluminum post-and-component picket system up the full stair run and wrapped it continuously around the upper landing. Consistent vertical spacing throughout. Matte black finish that stays sharp from the entry below and the hallway above.
- Powder-coated aluminum posts deliver a slim, architectural frame that steps back and lets the interior breathe.
- Component pickets fill each panel with evenly spaced verticals, keeping sightlines open between floors without sacrificing structure.
- Continuous installation across stairs and landing with no visual break, no hardware mismatch, and no interruption from bottom to top.
- The Room Does the Talking
A chandelier catches the eye going up. Hardwood anchors the floor, going across. Matte black holds the stairwell together.
When a railing is specified well and installed correctly, it stops being something worth noticing and starts being something a room cannot do without.
Island Deck and Rail delivered exactly that: an interior stair railing in Anacortes, Washington, that earns its place in a space designed to impress.
Rooted in Material Knowledge
Dylan Halverson grew up at Coastal Cable, his family’s railing supply company, learning the materials before he ever picked up a drill. That retail foundation drives every recommendation Island Deck and Rail makes on the job.
