A Project Stalled by a Capital Crime

The history of the Anacortes build remains unique in the company portfolio. Homeowners originally requested a quote from us but hired a different contractor. Events took a dark turn when the chosen builder faced an arrest for premeditated murder.

A half-finished structure and a legal nightmare remained in the wake of the arrest. When the homeowners called back, the goal shifted from construction to a full-blown rescue mission.

Correcting the Path with Expert Oversight

Moving into a crime-stalled job site requires a rigorous technical assessment. We coordinated with a local inspector to evaluate the existing framework, uncovering a lengthy “punch list” of errors left by the previous individual.

Our crew focused on systematically checking off safety requirements. The underlying structural integrity met high standards before a single board was installed on the frame.

Modern Resilience Meets Natural Seclusion

Our team selected Fiberon Promenade in Weathered Cliff for the decking. Installing the boards with Trex universal clips created a smooth, fastener-free surface, highlighting the premium texture.

To maintain the coastal atmosphere and add layers of protection, we installed a high-performance railing and privacy system:

  • E Glass Railing: A transparent system allowing natural light to flood the area without obstructing surrounding views.
  • Excell Powder-Coated Aluminum: We paired the glass with durable aluminum framing and stainless-steel cable for resilience to salt air.
  • Custom Cedar Slat Privacy Screen: To block out the stress of the past and protect the area from prying eyes, we added a custom Excell Cedar slat privacy screen.
  • Organic Contrast: Cedar provides a warm, natural texture that balances the sleek, modern lines of metal and glass.

A New Beginning

Walking the site with the homeowners after completion felt different than a standard project wrap-up. We replaced a reminder of a traumatic experience with a secure, high-end outdoor living space that finally invites relaxation.
